Unique home smell is a thing!!

One trick I do on vacation is put a garbage bag in everyone’s suitcase. All dirty clothes go in them and then I have all clothes sorted for when we get home. It makes it a lot easier and less daunting!

Welcome home! My husband and I are moving (our close date is currently set for August 2nd) from an 892 square foot, 1 bedroom + den apartment into a 970 square foot one level house (no basement), 3 bedrooms + 1 bathroom. The house sits on an almost 1/4 acre lot in one of the suburbs of Minneapolis. It was built in the 1950s so it is an older home and it is in definite need of some improvements and updates. I have been slowly working on getting some things packed. Yesterday (Saturday, 6/15) I went upstairs and emptied out our storage locker (with the exception of the Christmas tree). We still have about 45 days until we close (fingers crossed everything goes off without a hitch), so I have time. But I am not someone who thrives in chaos, so I don't want to sit and procrastinate and then be left scrambling and feeling completely overwhelmed. I am hopeful that my stepson will be able to come home from Florida for a few days to help with moving, but if he is unable to get approved time off, we will manage. Our lease isn't technically up on our apartment until September 15th so we aren't in the situation of having to rush, but I just want to get moved and put that whole journey behind us. And I am excited for our dog to have her very own completely fenced in backyard.

Wait a few years and take the girls to Universal, especially with Epic Universe coming next year. I think you will find it more relaxing and the girls will be ready for bigger rides. Especially when they get into Harry Potter ❤️

I have a very good sense of smell as well. I smell stuff that no one else can smell, just like you were saying. I don’t think it’s weird. I hope not anyway. Smells also bring back a lot of memories for me as well. The biggest thing that brings back memories is hot tar brings back military boot camp to me. And baked bread reminds me of my mom’s baking weekends.

You look great Jamie! Looks like you def gotta a little sun. I love getting back into routine as well after vacation. I live in Florida not too far from Orlando & you’re right about the heat & HUMIDITY 😶‍🌫️ . I hate it. The storms we’ve been getting have been a bit of a relief from the heat. Not a huge fan of Disney they’ve become so overpriced imo & too crowded- but I def think everyone should go at least 1x. I love Islands of Adventure a bit more bc of the rides but we don’t go often. If you ever come back to Fla, I highly recommend a trip to Gatorland (maybe in early winter or spring to beat the heat) also Weeki Wachi springs near Tampa has a great Mermaid show under water the girls might enjoy (you sit underground & view through glass), also of course the amazing clear cool spring w slides . 🛝 So glad you had a good time and safe travels! Hope you get to rest up! ❤

Question- what do you know about wearing socks around the house so the naturals oils on someone’s foot doesn’t mess up the carpet or wood flooring over time? Does that happen? I’ve been in someone’s house where they asked me to put on socks when I entered so the oils on our feet won’t mess up the hardwood..

I looove when we come home from vacation and I get to smell my own home 😅 since we have a lot more vacation in Germany, we‘re usually gone at least two weeks multiple times a year and I love it! I remember this as a kid too, coming home and smelling „home“ 😂

My daughter is the same way. I use her as my smell detector.
